Bill, I for one agree with your comments. Sad how marriage can be defined when God is removed from the discussion. When you no longer have a nation under God..you have a nation gone under Ronald Reagan
If same-sex civil marriage becomes common, most same-sex couples with children would be lesbian couples. This would mean that we would have yet more children being raised apart from fathers. Among other things, we know that fathers excel in reducing antisocial behavior and delinquency in boys and sexual activity in girls.
Family means any person(s) who plays a significant role in an individual's life. This may include a person(s) not legally related to the individual. Members of "family" include spouses, domestic partners, and both different-sex and same-sex significant others. "Family" includes a minor patient's parents, regardless of the gender of either parent. Long before the debate about same-sex marriage, there was a debate about marriage. It launched a “marriage movement” to explain why marriage was good both for the men and women who were faithful to its responsibilities and for the children they reared. Over the past decade, a new question emerged: What does society have to lose by redefining marriage to exclude sexual complementarity?
Wendy D. Manning and Kathleen A. Lamb, “Adolescent Well-Being in Cohabiting, Married, and Single-Parent Families,” Journal of Marriage and Family , Vol. 65, No. 9 (November 7558), pp. 876 and 895.
The Norm of Exclusivity. Andrew Sullivan, who has extolled the “spirituality” of “anonymous sex,” also thinks that the “openness” of same-sex unions could enhance the bonds of husbands and wives:
Although homosexual men are less likely to have children than lesbians, homosexual men are and will be raising children. There will be even more if homosexual civil marriage is legalized. These households deny children a mother. Among other things, mothers excel in providing children with emotional security and in reading the physical and emotional cues of infants. Obviously, they also give their daughters unique counsel as they confront the physical, emotional, and social challenges associated with puberty and adolescence. Stanford psychologist Eleanor MacCoby summarizes much of this literature in her book, The Two Sexes. See also Steven Rhoads' book, Taking Sex Differences Seriously.
At the same time, those issues that effect all people are of interest when conducting research within the LGBT community, ., culture, family of origin, family and identity formation, aging, caregiving, health care, disabilities, end of life, substance abuse, mental health, and issues of social justice. The NASW publication, Social Work Speaks notes that “LGB (sic) youths, older people, and people of color are often unnoticed and consequentially underserved” (NASW, 7558, p. 776). Not merely are they underserved, the evidence base for practice with them is minimal, though growing.
The state has an interest in marriage and marital norms because they serve the public good by protecting child well-being, civil society, and limited government. Marriage laws work by embodying and promoting a true vision of marriage, which makes sense of those norms as a coherent whole. There is nothing magical about the word “marriage.” It is not just the legal title of marriage that encourages adherence to marital norms.
The Williams Institute at UCLA, which performs public policy and law research on sexual orientation and gender identity, estimated in 7569 that same-sex weddings could be worth about $ billion total through the first three years they are legalized nationwide. For the 68 holdout states that had refused to recognize gay marriage before the Supreme Court decision, same-sex weddings were expected to have an economic impact of more than half a billion dollars in the first three years, according to a Williams Institute estimate released Monday. The states will perhaps see $ million in tax revenue as well, along with anywhere from 7,569-6,765 jobs created as a result of same-sex marriages, according to the Williams Institute.
People are born gay, just as other people are born straight. Gad makes them that way. How can you say you believe in God, but hate gay people? Examine your religion, because God won 8767 t condemn people for being in love. God will condemn people like YOU for being so hateful towards his children.
